  • Sync Energy app and Tariff Sense
  • Installer-selected dedicated circuit protection
  • Single and twin Sync Energy mounting stands
  • Solar PV systems with measurable export

The Sync Energy Wall Charger 2 EVWC2T7G is a 7.4kW, 32A tethered EV charger for a 220V to 240V AC, 50/60Hz single-phase supply, supplied with a fixed 7.5m Type 2 cable and an IP65 enclosure. It suits homes and light commercial parking spaces where the vehicle parks within cable reach and where Wi-Fi or Ethernet connectivity is available. It belongs in the home EV chargers range for buyers who want a single wall-mounted unit with the lead permanently attached.

  • 7.4kW maximum output with configurable 6A to 32A current
  • 220V to 240V AC, 50/60Hz single-phase supply
  • Mode 3 tethered Type 2 plug with 7.5m cable
  • 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, RJ45 Ethernet, Bluetooth and OCPP 1.6J
  • Open-PEN protection, 30mA Type A RCD, 6mA DC and load protection
  • 305mm high x 201mm wide x 115mm deep, anthracite grey trim
  • CE, UKCA and Smart Charge Points Regulations 2021 compliant

Will the 7.5m lead reach my bay?

The fixed 7.5m Type 2 cable is the main practical reason to choose this version over a shorter tethered charger. It gives extra reach for wider driveways, garages, side-wall positions and small workplace bays where the vehicle inlet is not always directly beside the unit. The cable should be checked with the vehicle parked normally so it reaches without tension, without crossing a busy doorway and without creating a trip point.

Because the lead is permanently attached, the driver does not need to carry a separate Mode 3 cable for normal Type 2 charging. The trade-off is storage space around the charger. The survey should allow room for the lead to sit neatly when not in use, especially where the charger is mounted close to a gate, garage door or pedestrian route.

How does it connect day to day?

This Wi-Fi and LAN model connects by 2.4GHz Wi-Fi or RJ45 Ethernet, with Bluetooth 4.2 used for setup. The Sync Energy app provides user control, and OCPP 1.6J is listed for supported charge-point management where the charger is used in a managed environment. Ethernet is useful where the charger position is outside Wi-Fi range or where the owner wants a hardwired network route.

The 4G version of this charger is listed separately as EVWC2T7GG. Buyers choosing this EVWC2T7G version should specify it for Wi-Fi or Ethernet installations rather than mobile data operation.

Can it manage solar and house load?

The Wall Charger 2 platform supports dynamic charging and solar charging features when the required monitoring is installed and commissioned correctly. A load management kit is supplied, which helps the charger respond to the property demand rather than treating the EV circuit as isolated from the rest of the home.

Running cost still depends on the vehicle, tariff, charge times, household demand and any generation available on site. The charger provides the control path, but the installer must make sure the measurement setup is correct before load response or solar-aware charging can work as expected.

What will the installer need to allow for?

The datasheet lists integrated open-PEN conductor protection, 30mA Type A RCD protection with 6mA DC and overcurrent and load protection. It also lists consumer unit requirements as a 40A MCB or 30mA Type A RCD depending on cable type or route. The final selection remains an installation design decision after assessing the supply, earthing and cable route.

Installation cost is usually affected by consumer unit position, external cable run, wall construction, containment, isolation, protective device choice, Wi-Fi or Ethernet provision and load-management commissioning. The EV charger installation guide helps buyers understand those survey points before the work is priced.

What should be ordered with it?

The 7.5m Type 2 lead is already fitted, so a separate charging cable is not normally required for Type 2 vehicles. The installer still needs the supply cable, protection, isolation, containment and any data cabling required for the chosen network route. Where a post position is more suitable than a wall, the Sync Energy single charger stand is the relevant mounting accessory.

Choose this tethered model where the driver wants the lead ready on the wall every day. Choose the EVWC2S7G untethered version where the owner wants to remove the cable after charging or may need different cable lengths later.

What cable is fitted to EVWC2T7G?

The charger is supplied with a fixed 7.5m Type 2 cable. The cable is not removable like an untethered unit, so reach should be checked against the normal parking position before installation.

What upstream protection does it need?

The datasheet lists consumer unit requirements as a 40A MCB or 30mA Type A RCD depending on cable type or route. The installer must select the final arrangement for the supply, route and earthing conditions.

Is load management supplied?

Yes. The Wall Charger 2 datasheet states that a load management kit is supplied. Correct setup and commissioning are required before the charger can limit demand against the property supply.

Can EVWC2T7G use Ethernet?

Yes. The EVWC2T7G model lists RJ45 Ethernet as well as 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Ethernet can be useful where the charger is mounted beyond reliable Wi-Fi coverage.

Can it be installed outside?

Yes. The charger is listed with an IP65 enclosure and IK10 impact rating. The installer must still maintain the enclosure rating when selecting the mounting position and cable entry method.

"Ordered a Hypervolt charger, power cable and a fuse box. Waited a week to be told that both the cable and fuse box were out of stock. They upgraded the cable from 4mm to 6mm at no extra cost as the 6mm was in stock, however the cable supplied was Prysmian rather than the Doncaster Cables EV Ultra that was actually advertised on the website. The fuse box I found cheaper elsewhere so they cancelled and refunded that part of the order. Easy and helpful to deal with but could be better on the communication and keeping the stock situation up to date on the website."

"I ordered the Ohme Home Pro 5m Smart EV Charger from Evergy as they offered the best price online. From the initial order to the product arriving (within a few days) it was effortless. Thank you."
