Ideal for

  • Solar PV homes wanting higher on-site energy use
  • Indoor single-phase diverter installations
  • Domestic heating loads requiring controlled surplus PV diversion
  • Installations using Sync Energy app commissioning

Works well with

  • Solar PV systems with suitable surplus generation
  • Approved electric heating loads
  • Supplied CT clamp for load measurement
  • Sync Energy app monitoring and setup
  • LAMPS solar ancillaries

The Sync Energy SEFSD is a 3.7kW single-phase solar power diverter for controlled use of surplus PV generation. Built for indoor installation, it monitors household supply through a CT clamp and controls heating outputs so generated energy can be used on site rather than exported by default. It is a practical add-on for homes with solar PV and compatible electric heating loads, especially where the customer wants a managed route to raise self-consumption without replacing the whole generation system. Connectivity is built in through Wi-Fi, LAN and Bluetooth, with setup and transfer to the home user handled through the Sync Energy app. The unit is supplied with the diverter, wall bracket, installation template, quick start guides, product ID card, accessory pack and one CT clamp.

  • 3.7kW single-phase solar power diverter
  • 220-240V nominal AC supply, 50-60Hz
  • 2 heating outputs with 16A maximum output
  • Configurable 0-16A maximum current
  • 0-10A controllable output with 16A bypass
  • Wi-Fi, LAN and Bluetooth connectivity
  • IP20 unit for indoor installation

What does the solar diverter control?

The diverter controls heating outputs using surplus energy measured at the incoming supply. A supplied CT clamp is fitted around the incoming live conductor before any tails are split, with the arrow direction set towards the load. Current and voltage readings can then be checked through the Bluetooth installer app before the device is handed over.

Output control is designed around domestic heating loads, with two available output channels. During commissioning, the installer selects the number of output channels in use, or both in parallel. The setup wizard also lets the installer set maximum run time, choose whether a temperature sensor is used and set a maximum temperature limit when a sensor is fitted.

Twin outputs for heating loads

SEFSD has two outputs and a maximum output rating of 16A. Maximum current is configurable from 0 to 16A, while the listed power control is 0 to 10A controllable output with 16A bypass. Those details matter because the diverter is not just a switching box. It is a controlled output device for managing how surplus energy is sent to the connected heating load.

Push-fit lever terminals are used for wiring. The terminal markings in the installation guide identify AC input, Ethernet, CT1 and temperature sensor connections, plus output terminals for the two controlled channels. This helps the installer plan wiring before the lid is secured and the app setup begins.

Indoor mounting and circuit protection

The solar power diverter is suitable for indoor installation on a solid wall or structure. It can be fitted to the supplied wall bracket, and the guide also shows compatibility with a standard single gang back box using the middle fixing holes. Bottom and rear cable entry options are provided, but the guide instructs installers not to drill alternative cable entries beyond the marked location.

Circuit protection must be provided by either a 16-20A MCB or a Type A RCBO. Upstream protection also needs to be suitable for the connected load, either from a fused spur outlet or a suitable MCB feeding the heating circuit. For broader installation planning, use LAMPS solar ancillaries and optimisers and meters.

Commissioning through Sync Energy app

Commissioning is carried out through the Sync Energy installer app using Bluetooth scanning. The installer selects Power Diverter, scans the device, enters the setup PIN from the unit or paperwork, connects the device to Wi-Fi and then completes the setup wizard. After setup, the device can be transferred to the home user through the app using email or a QR code.

The technical data lists the connection protocol as powered by the Sync Energy app, with software and firmware updates over the air. That gives the customer app-based monitoring and control while keeping installer setup within the same Sync Energy ecosystem used across the Flow range.

How it fits with solar and storage

The diverter is a useful product for solar households that want more local use from generated power. It does not replace a hybrid inverter or battery system. Instead, it gives the installation a controlled way to direct surplus energy into approved heating loads, which can sit alongside wider solar and solar battery planning.

Choose the diverter where the project has a suitable single-phase supply, an appropriate heating load and an indoor mounting location near the required wiring route. For homes already using Sync Energy Flow equipment, it keeps energy control inside the same brand ecosystem and app structure.

Solar diverter questions installers ask

What is supplied with SEFSD?

SEFSD is supplied with the solar power diverter, wall bracket, installation template, quick start guides, product ID card, accessory pack and one CT clamp. The accessory pack includes lid retaining screws and the CT clamp used for load management.

Is it suitable for outdoor installation?

No. The installation guide states that the solar power diverter is suitable for indoor installations. The technical data lists the unit as IP20.

What circuit protection is required?

The guide states that the product requires circuit protection by either a 16-20A MCB or Type A RCBO. Upstream protection must also be suitable for the connected load.

How many outputs does the diverter have?

The technical data lists two outputs. During commissioning, the installer can select how many output channels are in use, or both in parallel.
